Welcome!
Welcome to the official guide to the North Motu Hoverboard Museum.

Museum History

The museum opened on the weekend of March 27th and 28th 2004 to much fanfare. That weekend attracted over 100 guests to the museum. The month afterwards saw that number climb up to 500 visits.

After the opening few months, the museum started building a substantial and valuable inventory of boards that out grew the large house that situated the museum. In the summer of 2004, the museum therefore moved to a Frontierzone and started displaying the boards in the open air.
After a few weeks of bugs, it was clear that this was less than ideal. Sadly, due to a shortage of housing at the time, the museum lost its permanent home.
However, after a search around North Motu was completed in September 2007, a new home has been found and development of the new museum has begun. Watch this space for a pending announcement...

About this website...

The history section is where you can find about the history of hoverboards. The exhibit listings show you all boards which the museum has custody of. The listings also give the story behind each board. This part has been extensively researched including comments from the designers themselves.

The events section is new and we will start to list events where we will be showing the boards and allowing people to try out these outstanding pieces.
The Friends sections is where we pay homage to the very important developers and institutions who's contributions have made all this possible. Our heartfelt thanks go out to them all.
